Apparently some of you like the kid, so the kid decided to do a mix for you. Some of it sounds like not being able to get the fuck out of a big room called "Life", but in a good way ; most of it sounds like this feeling one has sometimes that some things of the past belong to the present without deriving any prestige from their, err, pastness. It's mostly house music.

J'ai écrit plein de brouillons, certains efficaces, d'autres spirituels, tous virant emo ou fluo in fine, c'est-à-dire rhétoriques, impudiques ou plus ou moins faux. Rien de mieux, je crois, que de dérouler les faits :

Welcome to the first installment in our Of Mixes and Men series, a pilot of which can be perused right below, as the new Orgasmic CD is just that, a mix. So. We run this little ltd. ed. mix-CDs scam (can't remember if we have a name for it). It's pretty simple: here's a CD, run with it. Anything goes. The most outlandish ideas can be put to the test, as we don't need the thing to be "smashing" or "brilliant" or whatever. Unfortunately, much to my despair, INSMX001 was smashing and INSMX012 is brilliant (in a dark way).
Vitamin House by Out One features the kind of vanguard, elegant, shimmering symphony of tones to be expected from a heavily-tattooed metal head. HA. You wish. More like straight house music, some classics--instant, forgotten or forever fondly remembered--some wonderful sell-outs, some new stuff, all hand-picked and pitched-up (33>>45) and hand-mixed by Out One aka JESUS SHAVES.
The new one. Above The Law tribute by Tacteel & John B. Rambo, aka The Hair Squad, murder rap experts. I won't talk much about ABVDLAW, because John B. (aka The Geneva Heathen) does it bigger and better on the actual tape. But, if I may: Above The Law, West Coast, G-funk, Gangsta rap--they weren't just seminal, they actually made babies. I heard Big Hutch has about 23.
It's also, this tape, the last in the series. Ten more are coming. Plus a box to house them all. What's next? We've been entertaining some pretty interesting notions, such as an unmixed SAD RAP mixtape, featuring the most heartbreaking, miserable and gloriously sad rap songs of all time. Suggestions welcome, as always. DJ Aï aka Jean Nipon will do one, if only because he signed in blood.
Tomorrow we'll talk about our big Xmas bash and the related mix-CD. And to celebrate the end of the week (whatever the fuck that means), Of Mixes and Men 3/3 will feature a new Surkin minimix. The boy is cute, he loves you all.

Why don't we have a non (or not yet?) Institubes-related post for a change? Siriusmo is not signed to Institubes. Siriusmo is a Berlin-based electronic artist who got introduced to the world via a series of singles on various labels and a remix on Modeselektor's last remix EP. Siriusmo's music is not an easy thing to describe, with one foot in vaguely hiphoppish electro, and the other in semi-happy filtered house... I think the only point of reference that comes to mind is Modeselektor's versatility and obvious need to stay away from anything affiliated to early 2000 electroclash and minimal-techno-isms. But i guess his stuff is less "dancehall rave terrorist" and more "2007 groove is in the heart" than Modeselektor. His myspace page has just been updated with a series of awesome disco-ish tracks. He also has a very dope side project with german singer Dana, who's a pro at making the german language sound sexy. Their song "Lieeebemachn" (from their myspace ) is a little piece of happiness wrapped in a kinder surprise bought in a gas station on the side of the autobahn. It's just too short and when i asked Siriusmo for a longer version he said he lost the files or something.
